Mission
The Friends of the Zach Gordon Youth Center aims to assist Juneaus youth by offering recreation counseling food security cultural backing emergency housing and support services. A significant new initiative involves crafting Alaska Native Robes to bolster the cultural heritage of young individuals. This project receives financial backing from local tribal groups and the community. The Friends provide financial aid in running the Zach Gordon Youth Center and the Sheiyi Xaat Ht or Spruce Root House youth emergency shelter. They also gather and transfer local matching funds to the City and Borough of Juneau for the shelter and provide extra youth assistance when necessary.
