The Policy Institute for Community Birth and Midwifery PICBM is dedicated to advancing public health maternity care and child well-being through a range of educational and advocacy efforts A key focus is on improving outcomes for mothers choosing midwife-led and community births by conducting research and sharing information that promotes access and reduces barriers to these services PICBM educates state and federal policymakers on perinatal health options and the benefits of expanding the direct-entry midwifery workforce Additionally it engages in research and data development to support expanded midwifery birth options for families seeking community-based care
