A DISCUSSION OF AFRICAN AMERICAN QUILTING TRADITIONS REVEALS A UNIQUE ART FORM AND APPROACH BORN OF NECESSITY AND ROOTED IN CULTURE AND PLACE. WOVEN THROUGH HIP HOP CULTURE IS AN IMPULSE TO REDEFINE LANGUAGE. FOR EXAMPLE, WE INVITED NOTED PROFESSOR, DR. MARK ANTHONY NEAL, TO DISCUSS THE ROOTS OF HIP-HOP CULTURE AND ITS RESONANCE IN OUR LANGUAGE. THE "WAY OUT OF NO WAY" SERIES WILL BE CO-CURATED BY NOTED LOCAL AFRICAN AMERICAN HISTORY SCHOLARS. ALL EVENTS WILL BE FILMED AND MADE AVAILABLE TO OUR WIDER AUDIENCE ON SOCIAL MEDIA OUTLETS AND/OR PUBLIC ACCESS CHANNELS. EVENTS WILL INCLUDE A SIGN LANGUAGE INTERPRETER AND FINAL EDITED VERSIONS WILL OFFER SPANISH SUBTITLES.
