Mission
The Sarasota Lawn Bowling Club, Inc. (SLBC) welcomes lawn bowlers of all skill levels (beginner to expert) who live in Sarasota full time or visit Sarasota from all over the world during our Winter months. We especially welcome new lawn bowlers and provide formal beginner training as well as ongoing technique instruction. We offer informal 'jitneys" (i.e. games) for players of all skill levels, club tournament opportunities, and open tournament opportunities which include teams from the Southern Gulf Coast region of Florida. Modern Lawn Bowling began in the 1830's in England, but it is truly a 21st century sport. Women compete equally with men, seniors compete equally with younger bowlers, bowlers of different skill levels can play together in the same game at the same time, and handicapped players can play at competitive levels.
