THE GASTON COUNTY PUBLIC LIBRARY PURCHASED A DIGITAL SCANNER IN 2019 IN THE HOPES TO BEGIN A DIGITIZATION PROJECT TO ALLOW AND ENCOURAGE DISCOVERABILITY OF ART IN OUR COMMUNITY. THE ENGAGING WITH ART POST-PANDEMIC (EAPP) PROJECT WILL USE BIBLIOBOARD TO PRESERVE AND DIGITIZE REGIONAL ART AND HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS. THE GRANT WILL FUND AN INTERN STIPEND TO WORK 16 HOURS PER WEEK TO DIGITIZE AND CURATE SCANNED WORK. THE FIRST SEMESTER PROJECT WILL ENTAIL LEARNING THE PROCESS OF DIGITIZING MATERIALS FROM LIBRARY STAFF. THE SECOND SEMESTER WILL INVOLVE DIGITAL CURATION OF THE SCANNED WORK WORKING WITH THE GASTON COUNTY MUSEUM. THE EAPP INTERN WILL WORK WITH ART AND HISTORICAL WORKS FOUND IN THE COLLECTIONS AT ALL TEN BRANCH LIBRARIES. THIS PROJECT WILL ALSO DIGITIZE AND CURATE ART AND HISTORICAL DOCUMENTS FROM AREAS IN OUR COMMUNITY THAT REFLECT THE DIVERSE POPULATION IN GASTON COUNTY THAT HAS NOT BEEN DIGITIZED OR HAS BEEN DISCOVERABLE BY ANYONE IN THE COMMUNITY.
