COLONIAL COURT APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATE PROGRAM INC

Provides advocates that ensure abused and neglected children, along with their parents, are offered and receive timely services that support psychological growth, physical health, mental well-being, education, and safety while under the court's care. Advocates monitor the case throughout the judicial process to ensure the voices of these children are considered in the court's placement decisions. An Advocate typically has one or two cases at a time allowing them to devote time for meeting and interviewing all parties involved in a child's case. Colonial CASA's Youth Mentoring program trains volunteers to help youth aged 10 to 18 develop skills for successful transitions to adulthood. Mentors encourage and support skill development in the following competency areas: academics, career preparation and employment, self-advocacy, health and mental well-being, as well as assisting in applying for after-school jobs, opening bank accounts, budgeting, visiting college campuses.

To provide for Court Appointed Special Advocates to represent the interest of abused and neglected children going through the court system through no fault of their own. Advocates follow the progress of those children to assist them in a successful transition to adulthood.
