Mission
The Capitol Symphonic Youth Orchestras provides a creative environment where young musicians from the greater Washington D.C. area come together to rehearse and perform orchestral music. Student musicians receive instruction from local professional musicians through regular, weekly rehearsals as well as sectional rehearsals where individual sections of the orchestras receive specialized instruction specific to their instrument. In addition to the Orchestra program, TCSYO also offers a Summer Camp Program and a Chamber Music Program. The Summer Camp program is a weeklong, half day program where student musicians rehearse daily and then perform a concert at the end of the week. The Chamber Music program runs concurrent with the Orchestra program's weekly rehearsals where student musicians focus on musical works specifically composed for small ensembles (typically 3-6 students).
