CONTRIBUTED FUNDS TO ASSIST LOCAL 501(C)(3) TO SUPPORT ITS MISSION: WE FULFILL OUR MISSION BY PROVIDING TRAUMA-INFORMED CARE, SAFETY, SECURITY, A HOME ATMOSPHERE, AND UNCONDITIONAL SUPPORT THROUGH IN-HOUSE AND OUTREACH PROGRAMS FOR EMOTIONAL WHOLENESS, FINANCIAL LITERACY, EDUCATIONAL OPPORTUNITIES AND LESSONS, AND RESTORATIVE HEALING TO REACH SUCCESSFUL INDEPENDENCE. WE EQUIP WOMEN WITH THE CAREER & LIFE SKILLS TO BREAK THEIR OWN HOMELESS CYCLE AND ACHIEVE AND MAINTAIN SELF-SUFFICIENCY THROUGH 5 MAIN PROGRAMS.

For over thirteen years NATASHA House (NHI) has been on the front lines of the Viriginia Peninsula's response to the intractable nature of homelessness in low-income female-headed families. NHI's HomeMaker Program (HMP) addresses the challenges of homeless women and their children by providing a safe and stable place to live and by concentrating on their immediate individual needs first. The organization then provides education, counseling, and practical experience so that NHI mothers improve their physical, emotional, and social well-being, develop or enhance skills that promote personal and financial independence, and secure permanent housing which leads to a lifework plan for self-sufficiency. This grant aims to provide an iCAFE Learning Lab to provide the students with individualized on-line modules in math, reading, and writing. The individualized attention includes mentor sessions, a pedagogical method proven effective with learners who need more time to absorb concepts.
