THE AMERICAN FEDERATION FOR AGING RESEARCH (AFAR) IS A NATIONAL ORGANIZATION WHOSE MISSION IS TO SUPPORT AND ADVANCE HEALTHY AGING THROUGH BIOMEDICAL RESEARCH. IT FULFILLS THIS MISSION BY: SUPPORTING RESEARCH THROUGH GRANT PROGRAMS THAT FURTHER OUR UNDERSTANDING OF THE AGING PROCESS AND ITS ASSOCIATED DISEASES AND DISORDERS; HELPING ESTABLISH A PIPELINE OF EARLY CAREER SCIENTISTS IN AGING RESEARCH AND GEROSCIENCE; OFFERING OPPORTUNITIES FOR SCIENTISTS AND PHYSICIANS TO EXCHANGE NEW IDEAS AND KNOWLEDGE ABOUT AGING; AND PROMOTING AWARENESS ABOUT THE IMPORTANCE OF RESEARCH IN THE AGING FIELD.
