TO FOSTER PROFESSIONAL IMPROVEMENT LEADING TO SUPERIOR TEACHING AND TO PROMOTE THE HIGHEST STANDARDS OF PROFESSIONAL ETHICS. LILAC'S MISSION IS TO SUPPORT THE ENGLISH LANGUAGE ARTS AND LITERACY GOALS OF TEACHERS AND SCHOOLS ACROSS LONG ISLAND. TO THAT END, WE OFFER TWO ANNUAL MINI GRANT AWARDS OF $500 EACH, ONE ELEMENTARY AND ONE SECONDARY. THE MEMBERS OF THE MINI-GRANT COMMITTEE REVIEW ALL APPLICANTS AND CHOOSE THE BEST IDEAS. LILAC ALSO HOLDS AFTER SCHOOL WORKSHOPS, PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT NETWORKING EVENTS AND ANNUAL CONFERENCES.
