VIETNAM Bac Kan - CATARACT SURGERY MACHINE To provide most of the cost of a phacoemulsion machine used for cataract surgery provided at no charge to poor recipients at Dak Lak Hospital in Dak Lak Vietnam by volunteer doctors and nurses enabling recipients to regain sight. Location was changed from Bac Kan Hospital in original proposal. It is expected that this equipment will be used by APBA to provide cataract surgery at no cost to a total of at least one thousand patients over the ten year expected life of the machine. In addition the hospital itself is projected to provide cataract surgery at no cost to an additional 9,600 patients both insured and uninsured over the ten year period.

VIETNAM Ninh Thuan - CATARACT SURGERY MACHINE To provide the entire cost of a phacoemulsion machine used for cataract surgery provided at no charge to poor recipients at Ninh Thuan Hospital Khanh Hoa Province, Vietnam by volunteer doctors and nurses enabling recipients to regain sight. It is expected that this equipment will be used by APBA to provide cataract surgery at no cost to a total of approximately 1,500 patients over the ten year expected life of the machine. In addition local doctors are projected to provide cataract surgery at no cost to an additional 10,000 patients both insured and uninsured over the ten year period. Half of the $63,100 grant is being paid this fiscal year; other half is to be paid next fiscal year.

The Rotary Jaipur Limb Project
To supplement the original grant to establish a workshop to provide prosthetic limbs at Gondar University Hospital in Gondar Ethiopia by including handicapped-accessible bathroom for patients being fitted for prosthetic limbs as the hospital's bathrooms are a considerable distance away and difficult to access by patients all of whom are amputees.
