THE MUSEUM WAS FOUNDED IN 1945 BY THE FAIRPORT HARBOR HISTORICAL SOCIETY, WHICH IS DEVOTED TO PRESERVING AND PERPETUATING THE HISTORIC TRADITION OF FAIRPORT HARBOR AND THE GREAT LAKES AREA. THE ORIGINAL LIGHTHOUSE WAS COMPLETED IN 1825.
